DECEMBER 2006MRRCI completed a contract with Cement Australia to remove a series of blockages from Brown's Creek, at Railton. An initial survey was undertaken for giant freshwater lobsters and burrowing crayfish. A small excavator was used to remove willows from the creek, stacking these at a sufficient distance to prevent any further infestation of the waterway. Larger willows bordering the creek were cut down, and the stumps painted with herbicide. The result,
while still looking untidy, will be covered by regrowth in a relatively
short time.
