Protecting Mt Roland Regional Reserve and Cradle Mt WHA from weed invasion 2013-15

A number of invasive weeds have been identified at sites to the north of Mt Roland Reserve. In addition, there is a major weeds hot spot at Gowrie Park - an area of key tourist visitation and the site of a past Hydro construction village. This is spread over multiple properties & public land and weeds here are at a saturation point. Montpelier Broom, Gorse, Spanish Heath & now a newly identified weed Kunzea ericoides is spilling over onto adjacent reserves and spreading along roadside verges up to 5km away. Each of these weeds spreads primarily by producing highly mobile seeds.

Gowrie Park Weed Hot Spot 2012-14

The centre of the Gowrie Park village has become a weeds hot spot for a number of weeds, many of which were a legacy of long gone gardens in the old Hydro village. Notably, Spanish Heath, Broom, Gorse and a recently identified mainland species which has gone feral here too - Kunzea Ericoides.
