MOUNT ROLAND RIVERCARE CATCHMENT INC
HAS WATER QUALITY MONITORING DOWN TO A TEA

Members of Mount Roland Rivercare Catchment Inc are now able to monitor and improve water quality after the group recently received a Dilmah, The Single Origin Tea 100% Pure Ceylon, water testing kit to undertake water quality monitoring on the Dasher River.

Mount Roland Rivercare Catchment Inc will use the kit to provide information about the water quality of the river at the head waters, before it passes through forestry and farming areas, and which will provide base line data for comparative analysis.

The Dilmah Tea and Landcare Australia partnership provided one water quality testing kit to groups and schools in most of Australia's 56 natural resource management regions, to assist with community landcare plans to improve water quality.

Julie Hargreaves (Administration Officer) said that the water quality testing kit will be a major boost for the Mount Roland Rivercare Catchment Inc's environmental program. "The Dilmah water testing kits will be a huge help to community groups like us who rely on grants or charitable donations to buy the equipment they need to monitor and care for their catchment".

Further information is available on the Landcare Australia website www.landcareonline.com or by telephoning Landcare Australia on 1800 151 105.

"Dilmah is proud to be taking a positive lead on improving water quality, which is such a vital part of sustaining Australia's communities", said Merrill J. Fernando, founder of Dilmah.
Landcare Australia Chief Executive Officer, Brian Scarsbrick, said "Poor water quality is one of our country's greatest challenges and it contributes to river habitat decline. Native fish populations have been depleted by an estimated 90 per cent since European settlement began".
"Landcare groups have taken great strides to combat these problems at a local level, and the kits provided by Dilmah will help them to continue their work," he continued.
